So last night’s American Idol performances from the girls were uninspired, boring, and they simply sucked. Except for one girl – Zoanette Johnson.
She simply has everything going for her. The look. The voice. The whole package. And she seems genuine about it all. When I heard the first words come out of her mouth as she started to sing, I immediately thought to myself, “THE LION KING!!!”.
Check out the amazing performance of Zoanette Johnson’s rendition of Circle of Life below!
HTC’s newest flagship smartphone has finally been announced. I can safely say that this phone is a beast, and will most definitely be my next smartphone.
I’ve used HTC’s One X for quite a long time, and it has easily been my favourite smartphone I’ve used to date. And believe me, I’ve gone through a countless amount of smartphones over the years. So what does HTC do? They simply step up the game and make what I believe to be is a fusing of the most popular smartphones currently in the market while adding their own style and flair to their next flagship.
All the specs are in check. You have a gorgeous 4.7″, 1080p display that will be the best on the market when the device gets released in March. The processor utilized is a next-gen quad-core Snapdragon 600, which is no slouch. HTC is also claiming that their ‘UltraPixel’ camera will take unparalleled images, especially in low light situations (Nokia Lumia 920, anyone?). They’ve also included optical image stabilization, which promises clear images even to those with unsteady hands.
What I’m most excited about is the New Sense that HTC is shipping with the device. Alongside the Android Jelly Bean software, HTC will ‘skin’ their device with the latest version of Sense (5.0 to be exact). It’s a whole new take on the Sense skin, and I am really starting to love the clean lines and fresh interface of the GUI.
Sorry, Motorola RAZR HD LTE. It’s been a good run. HTC, release this phone already so you can take my monies. Thanks.
I’ve been a huge fan of Serena Ryder ever since I first heard Weak In the Knees several years ago. It’s such an incredibly sad song, yet you just can’t stop listening to it. So when Ryder finally gets recognition and radio play with Stompa, it is truly an exciting time for Canadian artists. And they even play Stompa on 102.1 the Edge!
Anyways, Starbucks has released their Pick of the Week and it’s Serena Ryders’ What I Wouldn’t Do. I also picked up a couple of codes for the iOS app Living Earth. It appears to be a clock and weather app, which is pretty cool (and it’s free!).

So I’m super psyched about seeing one of my all-time favourite books, The Great Gatsby (Fahrenheit 451 being my other), being turned in a big budget movie (unlike the Mia Farrow version). You know what would be totally amazing? If they chose Lana Del Rey’s National Anthem to be a part – any part – of the film. Everything about it oozes The Great Gatsby, especially the theme of Old Money and New Money.
If you haven’t seen the second trailer (or Del Rey’s song), check both of them out below!
Finally! Season 2 of Mortal Kombat: Legacy is almost upon us. I absolutely loved the first season, as it was gritty and realistic, all while keeping within the Mortal Kombat universe. If the trailer is indicative of what the season is going to look like, sign me up.
So this is what I like to call a spectacular performance. I’m going to go out on a limb here and say that Angela Miller is going to be in the Top 3, if not the winner of this years American Idol, based on this performance alone. The only fear I have is she set the bar too high and all future performances aren’t going to be good enough, as the judges will constantly compare it to this performance.
Other than the ridiculously long title, here’s another free track to download, courtesy of Starbucks and iTunes. The artists are Ben Harper and Charlie Musslewhite, while the track is titled You Found Another Love (I Lost Another Friend). Please comment on which code you’ve used, since they can only be redeemed once. Enjoy!
Anyone who knows me on a personal level knows I’m a huge fan of Damien Rice. To my surprise, I totally missed his collaboration with Melanie Laurent for her debut album, En T’Attendant, which was released in May 2011. Apparently, they’re dating or engaged, so what better way to celebrate that occasion than to make amazing music together.
Most of you know Melanie Laurent from Inglorious Basterds, where she played my favourite character from the film, Shosanna. I had no idea she could sing as flawlessly as she does. It’s a shame that Damien Rice and Lisa Hannigan parted ways, but if Melanie Laurent is her replacement, I’m all for that!
Check out a couple of their tracks below (Uncomfortable being my favourite).
May 3rd couldn’t come soon enough. We’re constantly being titillated with Iron Man 3 teasers and T.V. spots, but this one takes the cake. My favourite part of the extended Super Bowl spot? The first thirty seconds. I’ll just let you watch and find out why.
Another week, another free track to download from Starbucks. This week comes to us from Wake Owl and the track is titled Grow. Please remember to comment on which code you’ve used, because they can only be redeemed once!
